By: Dr: Michael D. Murphy

Greetings! I am your Fountain Lake School Superintendent, Dr. Michael D. Murphy, and I am excited to be moving into my third year serving the school and community focusing on two district goals Communication and Literacy.  The communication goal will expand and build trusting relationships with staff, students, parents and develop community partners. The academic goal will focus efforts to allocate resources to expand literacy services K-12.  As a district leader, I will remain committed to supporting, monitoring and expanding a culture where high expectations are present for both students and staff ultimately creating a “destination for education” that serves students to be prepared with the necessary skills needed in the workforce for 21st century.

Fountain Lake School District serves grades Pre-K through 12 with students from both Garland and Saline County and provides students and faculty with state of the art technology. The District has a one to one ratio of Google Chromebooks supported by “Google Apps for Education” to all students in grades K-12 and supports an environment for both student and adult learning.

In 2017, Fountain Lake School District had an enrollment of approximately 1425 students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Beginning in the 5th grade every student will have a PSP (Personalized Success Plan) that will be used to keep the individual focus on each student throughout high school and two years beyond. The district is committed to doing whatever it takes to support all students.

At Fountain Lake, each school is separated by buildings, but the Elementary school, Middle school, and High School are all on the same campus. The district is currently in the process of developing a master facilities plan to complement the current campus and to better facilitate the future expansion to address student growth.

The Fountain Lake board of education consists of five community members that reside within the district boundary each May rotating members run for re-election to a three-year term.  Current members: President- Dana Greeson, Vice President- Sheila Ford, Secretary- Bo Robertson, and members Dan LaMontagne, and Alex Dykes.

The mission of Fountain Lake School District is “Supporting Every Student Every day for Success”. The vision of the Fountain Lake School District is to partner with their community to inspire, motivate, and prepare every student to be a confident, productive, knowledgeable, goal-oriented citizen.  The focus is to build quality relationships with all students to provide a level of support to assist students in achieving their goals academically, socially, emotionally and to prepare them for employment.
