Good Morning, I wanted to make everyone aware that we had a bus accident this morning at the intersection of Cobra Drive and Fox Pass at approximately 7:40 am. Bus # 14 on Route 11 was involved in a single-car accident. The bus driver was Chris Mungle. He was a substitute driver for Jay Shapiro's regular route. The driver of the other vehicle was transported by emergency services and our students and driver were checked out at the scene and were transported to the cafeteria on another bus where all students were evaluated with our nurses and clinic personnel. Parents were contacted and students were released to parents to go home or sent to class. I would like to thank all support staff personnel for doing a great job this morning on the scene and evaluating students. Dr. Murphy, Superintendent

We want to extend a huge thank you to Olen Barham, Keith Smith Company and Nutra Blend for their very generous donation of $4,000 to FL! The monetary donation was organized by Olen Barham who is pictured with our elementary counselor, Mrs. Davis, and was made by Keith Smith Company who he works for. Nutra Blend, who is one of Keith Smith Company's vendors, donated the items to be auctioned off in the Drive to Feed Kids program. The total was nearly $4,000 donated to our backpack program on behalf of these two companies and their campaign to help feed kids. Olen has two kids in our district, Brady and Cammie, and wanted to help the less fortunate kids in Fountain Lake School so he handpicked our school for this fundraiser.

Back to School Message! It was great to see most of you at Open House! We are excited to start back to school this Monday, August 16th. Car rider drop-off begins at 7:30 am and pickup begins at 3:00 pm. Our car route is exactly the same as last year except where you enter the campus. You enter the campus about 100 feet past the administration building, where you will see a large green sign that says main entrance. Once you enter there, you will turn right and then you will see the Agri building and go through the high school parking lot, and our line forms like normal. Please see the picture below. If you have a preschooler, you will need to enter through Cobra Drive, pull into the Safe Room B parking lot, and form a line facing Fason Drive. Once the buses have unloaded students around 7:50, you will pull down Fason Drive and drop the preschool students off at the corner of K-1 and form a curve to unload them in front of the office. Last year's transportation was pretty smooth and we are hoping this year is as well. Please be patient with us the first week, while we get all our procedures running smoothly. Our first priority is always to keep your child safe! We look forward to seeing you all on Monday! Mrs. Curry

While Governor Hutchinson lifted the mask mandate today, he also announced that each local board of education must take action to maintain or change local policy. Until the school board takes action, the Fountain Lake School District mask policy will remain in place. Following board action, any policy modifications will be communicated to you all. Thank you.

Good evening, As you are all probably aware by now we will not be on campus Tuesday, 2/23, and Wednesday, 2/24 due to an area-wide water outage. It is our hope and plan as of now that instruction will be back on campus Thursday, 2/25, and Friday, 2/26. Friday this week is not a virtual option day. Because we have missed so much onsite instruction due to weather and water shortage, Friday is a regular school day onsite. If students miss this day their absence will be unexcused. I hope you have all enjoyed the snow and stayed safe! Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these events. Mrs. Curry

What is Virtual Friday for Elementary? Virtual Fridays in the elementary will look much like a normal school day for us. We will be teaching, reviewing, and pulling small groups to meet students' academic needs. We are encouraging all students to attend, however, if your family chooses to take advantage of this day you will need to let your child's teacher know. Please communicate with your child’s teacher the day before to request a device. There will be no new assignments assigned on Fridays, and the student can work independently on the educational websites they use at school and read. We will not be sending home hotspots. It is very important that if your child takes a device home they bring it back, as they use them every day. Attendance will not be held against anyone on Virtual Fridays. However, if your child is struggling academically and needing support, your child’s teacher may request that they come on Fridays. This will start Friday, October 30th. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your support and flexibility! Mrs. Curry

Please read this important safety message. Car rider line for the elementary ends at 8 am each morning. According to our handbook policy, if you bring your child after that time they will need to be checked in at the K-1 or 2-4 office and will be counted tardy. After 8 am there are no adults present to unload your child and we do not allow the students to get out of the car by themselves without a staff member. Safety is a top priority for all students and it is vital they are not dropped off without an adult present. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter and I appreciate your support in following our school policies. Mrs. Curry

We appreciate that you, as parents/guardians, are a vital part of our team that works together to provide the best environment for your child to grow! Next week we will be having Targeted Parent-Teacher Conferences next week on Tuesday, October 20th, and Thursday, October 22nd from 3:30-6:30 PM. To safely conduct conferences this year, teachers will or may already have scheduled appointments with you. Should you need to communicate with a teacher, please contact her/him to schedule an appointment. Appointments may be held face to face, by phone, or virtually. All conferences are being held by appointment only. Face masks and health screenings are required to enter the buildings. All parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers at any time they have questions or concerns. If you have not received a form, please contact us or print the form that is on our website. Last week, the Arkansas Child Nutrition Unit announced that the USDA has extended the Seamless Summer Operation program through December 31st, 2020- or until funding has been exhausted. This means that all students will be able to eat one school breakfast and one school lunch per day at no cost. Any student wanting an extra breakfast, lunch, or à la carte item must purchase those items separately. Students will still need to use their ID cards.

Parents, We are excited to announce that today (Tuesday, September 8th) is the first day of our FACES elementary after school program.  If your child is enrolled in the program, they will be staying at school after dismissal on the days your child is signed up to attend.  We will be following the same hygiene and social distancing guidelines after school, that we do during the school day.  You can pick up your child in the elementary cafeteria anytime before 6pm.  Per school guidelines, everyone ten and older must wear a mask when in the building to pickup a student.  You can reach the after school program by dialing 701-1700, and selecting extension #1779.
