Fountain Lake Junior High Cobras traveled to Haskell Harmony Grove on August 31, 2023 for a football game against the Cardinals. Cooper Buss was 11 for 17 passing for 168 yards and had 2 touchdowns; he also had 9 carries for 40 yards rushing and 2 rushing touchdowns. Peyton Harwood had 10 receptions for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns. Carlos Rodriguez had 7 carries for 56 yards rushing. Elijah Childs led the defense with 8 tackles. Cooper Buss, Aidan Ault, Nate Jordan, and Preston Harness each had 7 tackles. Coach Justin McArthur said, “It was a complete team win in a hostile environment on the road. The offense did enough to get us the lead, the defense came up with big stops in critical moments, and we were solid in the kicking game as well.” The Fountain Lake Players of the Game were Cooper Buss, Peyton Harwood, and Elijah Childs.
