Fountain Lake Cobras played Cedar Ridge on September 15, 2023. Caden George started off scoring on a 1 yard run in the first quarter; the 2 pt conversion failed and ended the first quarter 6-0. With 38 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, Abram Davis scored on an 8 yd run; the 2 pt conversion failed ending the 2nd quarter 12-0. Coach Kenneth Shelton said:
That is how the 1st half ended. We also had 1 touchdown called back due to a flag and we fumbled on Cedar Ridge's 20 yard line, so we could have had a larger lead at halftime. We opened up the third quarter with a nice drive capped off with a 32 yard run by Abram Davis with 8:58 [left] in the 3rd quarter the 2 pt conversion was good; a run by Abram Davis to put the score at 20-0. That is when all momentum went in Cedar Ridges direction as they scored 3 straight touchdowns to tie the game 20-20 with 8:42 left in the 4th quarter. Our offense was able to have one last scoring drive capped off with a QB sneak from the 1 yard line by Caden George and they made the 2 pt conversion. Another run by Abram Davis made the score 28-20 with 5:32 left in the game. Our defense was able to come up with a big stop and we were able to run out the clock. A very sloppy game on our end as we had over 15 penalties, however I was very proud that we were able to overcome those mistakes to come out with a victory. That puts our record at 1-2 (1 win and 2 losses). Conference play doesn't start until week 5 against Genoa Central. Brayden Buss had 5 rushes for 38 yards. Defensive stats follow: Sammy Tillery had 15 total tackles (8 solo) as well as 2 tackles for loss, and 1 hurry. Kyle Pinkston had 10 total tackles (4 solo), 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery and 5 hurries. Miguel Honey had 8 total tackles (6 solo) and 4 hurries. Bricn Smith had 10 total tackles (5 solo) and 1 forced fumble. Brayden Buss had 8 total tackles (3 solo), and 1 interception. Stennis Wilkins recovered 3 onside kicks that helped us have great field position not to mention not giving Cedar Ridge other possessions. Abram Davis was the Offensive and Overall Player of the Game while Sammy Tillery was the Defensive Player of the Game and Stennis Wilkins was the Special Teams Player of the Game.
